2005 Student Equipment Grant Awards
NortekUSA was pleased to receive so many exceptional proposals from graduate students for the annual equipment grant. We had many interesting proposals from a broad variety of disciplines including:
- Fisheries management
- Aquaculture
- Geomorphology
- Boundary layer studies
- Swash-zone processes
- Phytoplankton dynamics
- Tsunami observations
- River and lab engineering
- Coastal current and wave studies
With so many well written proposals, we expanded the offering and decided to award three equipment grants.
The 2005 grants were earned by:

“Enhancing fisheries management of leopard grouper using life history characteristics to design no-take Marine Protected Areas in Loreto Marine Park, Gulf of California, Mexico”
Equipment granted: Aquadopp Profiler
Anthony Kirincich
“Measuring the influence of incoming surface gravity waves on the central Oregon coast”
Equipment granted: AWAC
